Zetetick Housing 15 years – Looking to a successful future

Zetetick Housing 15 years of change and progress

Over the last 15 years the landscape of social housing, and care has changed dramatically.

Winterbourne, COVID, Grenfell, a decade of austerity under the Conservatives, Covid, and now the cost-of-living crisis – not an exhaustive list, but each of these factors have contributed to the fact there is now a desperate need for more support from the government for Social Care and Social Justice.

The 2021 Social Care Reform announcement by the Prime Minister was widely acknowledged as a step in the right direction. Still, as the Care and Support Alliance, adhered – more needs to be done.

“Social care needed a big injection of guaranteed, additional funding for now and the future, but the Chancellor didn’t deliver it. The extra money that was announced for local government was not ring-fenced for social care and will need to be stretched thinly across council services, after a decade of under-funding.”

“The end result is that there is no relief in sight for older and disabled people who require care, and their families and carers, who are having to put up with services under extreme duress – if they can get any help at all.” Caroline Abrahams, Charity Director of Age UK and Co-Chair of the Care and Support Alliance.

Zetetick housing 15 years of achievements

As we look back at the last fifteen years as an organisation, what we have achieved, and how much has changed, we at Zetetick must also stress how much there is still to do. Fifteen years is cause for celebration, but moreover, fifteen years is also a great time to take stock and refocus. The present and clear need for our services as a supported housing provider, and the challenges we face day to day to reach the people who need that help, mean that for us at Zetetick it is understanding that now is the time to act.

Over the next five years, ZHC is working with seven strategic aims to ensure that we endeavor in our utmost to ensure that the people that we work to the house are at the heart of all we do. There is no doubt that the whole staff works hard, every single member of our sixteen-strong team gives it 100% every day, and along with our tenants, that is truly what is to be celebrated about turning 15.

Zetetick housing 15 years of quality homes

We’re delighted to host a Summer Fair for our tenants in Croydon this year, as they are the reason, we do what we do. We will introduce our team to you, over the next few months on our social media. Also, we will be asking you, ‘what does home mean to you?’ with the chance to win a prize and have given our visual identity a refresh, so do let us know what you think.

In essence, Zetetick will continue in our mission of providing quality homes for adults with complex needs, (specified accommodation for supported living) who deserve the dignity of choice. Thank you to all our partners, the families we work with and of course our supporters – we couldn’t do this without you.
