What Is Supported Housing and Why Everyone Deserves a Home

Supported housing provides homes for people who need support to manage their home. These are adults who may be overlooked in the housing system—people with learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions or physical impairments. For them, a safe home is not a given. It’s something that has to be made possible, and kept that way.

At Zetetick Housing, we believe everyone deserves a home that supports them to live with dignity. That’s the foundation of our work. We’re a charity, not a developer. We exist to give people housing they can trust—homes that don’t let them down.

What Supported Housing Really Means

Supported housing means living somewhere that fits—not only in terms of bricks and mortar, but in terms of daily life. It means housing that doesn’t isolate, pressure, or confuse. It means being able to live well in your own space, with the right support behind you.

We manage the housing side. We work in partnership with care providers who handle day-to-day support. Our responsibility is to make sure the home stays safe, suitable and secure. That includes repairs, tenancy help, and what’s known as intensive housing management—housing work that takes into account the individual needs of the person.

Why We Care

So, what is Supported housing and does it matter? This work matters to us because we’ve seen what happens when it’s not done properly. We’ve seen people placed in housing they don’t understand, surrounded by neighbours who don’t understand them. We’ve seen temporary placements turn into permanent limbo. We’ve seen families lose faith in the system—and individuals lose the chance to live with confidence.

We don’t accept that.

Zetetick exists to stand in that gap and say: “We’ll take this on. We’ll do it right.” Every time we secure a home that works, every time a person feels safe where they live, every time a support provider can focus on care because the housing is sorted—that’s a win.

We do this because it changes lives. Quietly, practically, and without fuss. That’s what keeps us going.

Who We Are

Zetetick Housing is a specialist supported housing charity. We work alongside care providers, families and local authorities. All our tenants have recognised support needs. We do not offer care ourselves, but we are committed partners to those who do.

We provide:

  • Long-term, secure homes

  • Property adaptations and repairs

  • Tenancy support tailored to need

  • Respect for the individual, not just the placement

We stay involved. We don’t vanish after the lease is signed. We check in. We fix what’s broken. We talk to families. We listen. We help keep things steady when other systems feel uncertain.

Our Ethos

This work is about more than accommodation. It’s about values.

We believe in doing things properly.

We believe in treating people with respect.

We believe a good home should never be left to chance.

We’re not interested in ticking boxes or scaling up for the sake of it. We take on what we can do well—and only what we can do well.

That’s how we protect the people we serve. That’s how we stay trusted by our partners.

If that sounds like something worth supporting, you can help here.

A lifeline

Supported housing provides a lifeline for people who need help to manage their home. It’s a vital part of independent living for adults who face barriers others don’t even see.

At Zetetick Housing, this is our purpose. We provide safe homes and empowered people,  long-term homes in partnership with care providers. We work quietly, respectfully, and with a deep commitment to getting the housing right—because that’s where everything starts.
