Can you spare time for Volunteers Week?
Thinking about offering your time to contribute to a worthy cause? Volunteers week is a great opportunity to support charities like Zetetick Housing and help those who really need it.
Whilst Zetetick welcomes volunteers all year round, Volunteers Week helps raise awareness of what it means to be a volunteer and inspire others in how they can easily make a difference to their communities.
Starting Monday 3rd June, Volunteers Week 2024 is a celebration of the contributions made not only by our wonderful volunteers, but volunteers across the world. We want to recognise and thank our volunteers, highlighting the impact of their amazing achievements.
What’s it like volunteering with Zetetick Housing?
We are grateful for every volunteer who supports our charity, whether through copywriting, SEO support, social media, admin or gardening. Their help is invaluable to Zetetick and we can’t thank them enough for their time and hard work.

Meet our volunteer team
Suzy – copywriting
Suzy is a fantastic copywriter who has written many blog and magazine articles for us, including our hoarding article earlier in the magazine. She has previous experience of the sector working in recruitment, specialising in social and supported housing and is currently a Quality Officer for a London university.
Suzy said:
Volunteering with Zetetick is a rewarding experience that benefits both the community and you. Zetetick focuses on housing solutions for vulnerable individuals. By volunteering, you become part of a team that collaboratively supports people to live independently.
Whilst working with Zetetick I have had the opportunity to learn about and write about topics that previously were unfamiliar to me. I have built a better understanding of how I can be an ally to those within the wider community living with disabilities and/or learning difficulties. My confidence with copy writing has grown with the support of Emma from the Marketing & Engagement team and I have gained invaluable experience and transferable skills to add to my CV and boost my professional growth.
The ability to work remotely and contribute to Zetetick’s blog and magazine has given me the freedom to carry out volunteer work around my full-time job. Working closely with Emma, I have had the opportunity to develop and contribute my own ideas as well as writing topical pieces for Zetetick. Emma has provided support via 1-1 meetings once every few weeks that are scheduled around my full-time job. Normally, only thirty minutes or less, we catch up about any ideas that I might have for pieces that I would like to write, or Emma provides direction with topics that Zetetick would like to raise to the attention of their service users. During the past year working with Zetetick, I’ve covered a broad range of subjects from Safeguarding to the Croydon being awarded London’s Borough of Culture 2023 funding.
Emma is always quick to pass on feedback from my articles and seeing the positive impact of my work and knowing that other individuals within the community are reading and finding my work useful and supportive is incredibly rewarding.
Owain – SEO, website and content
Owain is an amazing marketing professional with 10 years’ experience across sport and software. He has worked with football clubs on some incredible, major sporting events. We are very lucky to have his support with our SEO, website and content.
“I have volunteered with Zetetick since January and the work they do is incredible. The people are extremely friendly and passionate about what they do, and they make a positive difference to people’s lives every day.”
Florence – decorations at one of our tenant engagement events
Florence was a star and spent an afternoon during half term using her artistic flair to help decorate the venue at one of our recent tenant engagement events.
“I enjoyed the party, it was fun to meet everyone and dance and I enjoyed helping with decorations and getting my face painted by Karen [ZHC Finance Manager].”
Georgina – copywriting and web accessibility
Georgina is a Content Quality Analyst for the UK’s leading tech training and talent services provider. She is an incredible all-round marketing whizz and very kindly used her corporate volunteering days to write some blog articles, as well as helping us to make our website more accessible.
“Volunteering with Zetetick was a wonderful experience! The team was so welcoming and you can truly feel that they care deeply about their tenants.
Everyone is entitled to a safe and stable space that they can call home. I’m grateful to have been able to lend my support, even in a small way, to such a meaningful cause!”
Zeb – admin
Zeb is currently at college and very kindly used some of his spare time to help us label and seal envelopes, ready to deliver our magazine out to everyone.
“I like to help out as it is for a good cause and I found it useful to put the experience on my CV.”
