Hike4Homes: Supporting Health and Wellbeing for All

Walk with us: Embracing Health and wellbeing

At Zetetick Housing, we’ve come to realise that good health is about more than just seeing your GP or eating your greens. It’s tied up in feeling safe at home, having the freedom to make day-to-day decisions, and knowing you’ve got support when you need it. This is especially important for adults with learning differences, who—like anyone else—deserve an environment that fosters holistic wellbeing. Over time, we’ve discovered that once people trust their surroundings, their confidence and happiness naturally start to rise. If you’d like more insight on how a supportive environment impacts overall wellbeing, you can explore guidance from NHS Live Well  or learn about advocacy from Mencap

Safe and Encouraging Homes

Andy, one of our trustees, often reminds us that a focus on holistic wellbeing takes into account physical health, emotional stability, and social connections. By providing supportive homes and personalised guidance, we encourage tenants with our carepartners to adopt daily habits—like balanced eating, gentle exercise, and regular social activities—that keep them feeling energised. This approach has shaped the essence of Zetetick Housing, where it’s not just about giving someone a place to live, but also helping them feel genuinely at home.

How Hike4Homes Fuels health and Wellbeing

We bring this philosophy to life through Hike4Homes our charity walk, our annual gathering that combines a friendly walking challenge with the joy of coming together for a shared purpose. Sophia, our fundraising manager, organises training walks and group outings, ensuring no one feels pressured to do more than they can handle. The camaraderie along the way reminds us that holistic wellbeing isn’t a lofty concept—it’s built from everyday gestures such as cheering someone on or sharing a laugh when the path gets tricky. One of our Sponsors Go Fitness is right there to encourage this healthier way of life and support the work we do.

Independent Living Through Shared Success

But it’s not only about physical fitness and our charity walk.  Through Hike4Homes, we shed light on how stable, supportive homes make all the difference for those keen to achieve independent living. When you feel comfortable in your own space, it’s easier to take care of your health, plan nutritious meals, and stay motivated to explore the world beyond your doorstep. As Andy loves to say, “A stable home life can be the first step towards better health,” and we’ve seen countless examples proving him right.
