Inclusion and belonging

At Zetetick Housing, inclusion and belonging are more than just ideals—they are the foundation of everything we do. As CEO of Zetetick Housing, I’ve seen firsthand how a true sense of community transforms lives. From making homes more accessible to organising fundraising events like Hike4Homes, our mission is clear: to create a world where people with learning disabilities and additional needs feel safe, valued, and empowered.

Why Inclusion and Belonging Matter

People with learning disabilities and autism often face barriers that go beyond physical access. While accessible housing features like ramps and adapted bathrooms are essential, true inclusion requires more than modifications—it’s about fostering meaningful social connections. When individuals feel accepted and supported, they gain the confidence to engage, connect, and thrive in their communities.

This commitment to inclusion is shared by our dedicated **trustees—Martin, Andy, Natasha, Claudia, Gary, Tash, and Debbie—**who work tirelessly to ensure that no one is left behind. Their combined expertise helps shape a culture where people are not just accommodated but genuinely welcomed.

For further insight into meaningful inclusion, organisations such as Inclusion Europe and Disability Rights UK offer valuable resources that align with our approach.

Hike4Homes: Bringing People Together Through Action

Hike4Homes is more than just a charity walk—it’s a powerful expression of community. This annual event unites tenants, volunteers, supporters, and team members for a day of shared experiences and genuine connection. Whether walking, cycling, or running, every participant plays a role in raising vital funds that directly support our accessible housing projects and independent living initiatives.

But Hike4Homes is about more than fundraising. Walking side by side fosters natural conversations, bridging gaps between people from all walks of life. It reinforces our belief that inclusion happens when people come together, share experiences, and create lasting bonds.

Diversity, equity, inclusion principles for organisational identity.

How Your Support Makes a Difference

The money raised during Hike4Homes helps Zetetick Housing to:

  • Upgrade Homes: We invest in essential housing adaptations to make our properties more accessible and comfortable for our tenants.
  • Empower Tenants: We support programmes that promote independent living, helping tenants develop life skills and confidence.
  • Foster True Community: Every interaction at Zetetick Housing, whether with staff, volunteers, or fellow tenants, is an opportunity to build meaningful relationships.

These efforts combine to create an environment where everyone feels they truly belong.

On behalf of the Zetetick Housing team, including our Trustees, thank you for helping us create a community where everyone is truly welcome. Together, we can make sure no one is left on the sidelines.
