This position is to undertake a multi-task role as a Maintenance Officer as part of our current team We require someone with experience and knowledge of carrying out small repairs, decorating and gardening.
Your primary function will be to undertake either decorating or repair tasks within the organisation but will include other various maintenance / DIY tasks within each home as required by our tenants and/or the Charity such as electrical, plumbing, central heating settings, etc., therefore, you also need a general knowledge of domestic property maintenance issues.
Your role will also include covering aspects of gardening within each home such as. lawn mowing, hedge cutting.
It will be expected of this role to assist in maintaining a high environmental standard within our tenant homes, therefore you will be self-motivated and have a keen eye for quality workmanship and someone who has all rounds skills.
You should demonstrate a common-sense approach to problems and basic repairs with the ability to deliver innovative solutions. Also to know when a job is better undertaken by an outside contractor and to discuss this with your supervisor.
This position is best suited to someone who has a trade or/as well as, various all rounds skills, such as: decorating, electrical, plumbing, assembly of furniture and general knowledge of domestic property maintenance issues, remembering you will also be expected to maintain tenants gardens.
You must be able to work on your own initiative, organise appointments, complete paperwork and be able to drive to and from jobs.
You will report to the area housing manager who will in-part, set your schedules. However, the successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to their own daily work schedule and identifying any other planned maintenance jobs that are required.

Location Lewes/Brighton Sussex and Kent (occasional work Croydon and S.London)
Hours 40 hours per week, + on call rota
Wage £25,000 (+ on call supplement and hours) subject to skills and experience.
Status Permanent post.
